With multiple keyboards to juggle, and numerous mice to manage, what little space you might have is reduced to a sea of keys and clicks. Once each machine has a copy installed, one computer must be designated as the host. This is the computer with the primary keyboard and mouse, and the machine that will be used to control all the others. The server is also the machine from which you can control all of Synergy's advanced options — for example, screen position and hotkeys. The latter is particularly handy on Mac/PC setups, where Alt and Control keys posses different functions in their respective operating systems.
